This traditional Martial Art exhorts a healthy way of life. It provides systematic training for the whole body
as a method of self-defense.
The correct use of feet, hands, and body to defend against surprise attacks using
blocks and counterattacks, as well as displacements, speed coordination, control, strength, and execution,
which are fundamental in the training of this martial art.
Karatedō is a mystical art, which originated in the Japanese island called Okinawa (Ryu Kyu), approximately
400 years ago, when the governor of Kyushu Province prohibited the people of Okinawa, the use of all kinds
of weapons, such as the Katana and others. As a result of this, the art of self-defense was perfected and
eventually came to be called KARATEDŌ.
Karatedō Ni Sente Nasi = In Karatedō there is no international attack but self-defense.
Karatedō in its essential meaning is: "The philosophical path for the improvement of the individual through
the art of defense with the empty hand (with the body)", Kara = empty, Te = hand, Dō = philosophical path.
Our organization practices and teaches the TRADITIONAL KARATEDŌ that originated in Okinawa,
through Sōke Kenwa Mabuni, who introduces the style: SHITŌ-RYU, following the millenary techniques of the essence of Karatedō. It is our leader, Daishi Jorge Sosa Sr., who maintained those teachings, and today we
follow the same methods learned in the 60s, this through our organization: SOSA-KAI.
We do not practice Karatedō as a sport but rather as a Way of Life to perfect the individual to
be a person of benefit to the society in which we live
